Westcave Cellars Wine

Westcave Cellars EntranceLocation, location, location… As Austinites discover Westcave Cellars, meet the Fetty’s, and taste their Texas wine, it is becoming the place to hang out. From Austin, just take 71 west to Hamilton Pool Road, and go a couple of miles past the turnoff to Hamilton Pool Preserve. Make a day of it – stop in for a dip early to beat the crowd at Hamilton Pool, then head over to Westcave Cellars and relax in the tasting room or the shade of the trees in the back… And if you're running late and the Hamilton Pool line is too long, just skip it and go straight to the winery!

Westcave Cellars Owner Margaret Fetty - rightMargaret Fetty and all the folks at Westcave Cellars will welcome you with open arms and a nice glass of wine from Texas grapes (many are grown right at the estate).  There are wine styles for every taste. You can even experience the difference terroir makes when you try their Estate grown Viognier versus their High Plains Viognier. What an amazing distinction a few hundred miles makes! Both are impressive illustrations of what great winemakers can do with Texas grown grapes… And there's a lot more to come. I got to taste their flavorful Tannat - it was just about to be bottled. I’ll have to make a special trip soon to pick some up-along with more Viognier.

Westcave Cellars PatioTaste, pick out a bottle of your favorite, head for the shady patio and delight in not just the wine and ambiance, but the bottle label artwork of caves created by Tim Woodring from Dallas.  Labels planned for future releases will include images of Westcave Preserve and Hamilton Pool Park. Westcave Cellars is new and just starting to get some well deserved recognition. I encourage you to include it in your wine excursion.
